Double Rainbow Cafe, Guelph, ON

Drink Selection – 4/5 – Finally, a location with a drink specials menu! They weren’t overly exciting specials but they were specials nonetheless. They also had all the regular selections. There were two drinks that caught my eye on the specials – a spicy turmeric latte (although not that interesting, at least it was different!) and a Beet Mylk latte – which I asked about. The barista explained that it had a bunch of heath ingredients I didn’t recognize (maca and cordyceps?) but would taste like vanilla and spices.

Drink Quality – 3/5 – I got the Beet Mylk latte because it seemed like the most interesting option. It didn’t taste like beets at all, mostly just tasted like milk, nutmeg, vanilla, and cinnamon. Overall, the flavour was not strong at all, which is fine. Overall, I feel pretty neutral about this latte. I think if I wanted this again I would just heat up some milk at home. There was a grainy texture in the last few sips that I was not a fan of. Overall I am simply grateful that it didn’t have espresso in it so I wouldn’t have to experience more sour coffee.

Snack Selection – 1/5 – As far as I could tell there were only 2 pastry options available – croissant and chocolate chip cookie. I got neither as they did not seem overly appealing.

Snack Quality – N/A

Overall Vibes – 3/5 – It was in an interesting building with a large glass garage door. It had kind of a cluttered health food store vibe, which I neither like nor hate. I don’t like when cafes are completely empty and have no music, it makes looking at the menu awkward.

Further notes – The barista was nice. Overall it seemed to be a bit more health-centric than I’m interested in and overall their selections were not so appealing that I will go back again for more.

Overall rating – 3/5
